The following tips will enable you to get your groceries on a budget while your family enjoys a healthier diet.

When you are purchasing real food, you really don’t need to be concerned with labels because there are none. The inner aisles where you will find packaged foods and some gems such as cooking oils and fats, spices, and some other good options.
Become a food label detective: Read labels very carefully and watch out for hidden sugar. Reducing the amount of sugar in your diet is a quick way to reduce calories without cutting out a lot of important nutrients. When examining food labels for added sugar, look for the words corn sweetener, corn syrup, or corn syrup solids as well as high-fructose or fruit juice concentrate. Also look for other words ending in “ose” (like sucrose, lactose, maltose & etc). The nutrition facts table on package foods gives you information on total calories and 13 core nutrients.
